Ex-England Cricket Captain and all-time England Test leading run scorer
Levellr allows me to pass on lessons that I was lucky enough to learn from some of the best players and coaches in the game, combined with my own experiences and insights from across my career. Whatever your current goals or ambition, I hope I can share learnings and inspiration from my time in the game
A bit about me: I am immensely proud of all I was able to achieve playing for England. Never did I imagine I would become the most-capped player for my country, it probably still hasn't really set in. You dream about playing for your country, and then all of a sudden you get your first call up and your stood in the middle aged 21, with a world-class Indian attack coming at you! Blink, and 2006 raced forward to 2018 and my final appearance for my country. But what a time I had out there (and I did spend a fair amount of time out there!)
The honour of captaining my country of course stands out in my career, whilst going on to become my country's highest Test run-scorer and named in England’s Greatest Ever Test XI were really special moments. I'm not sure where my ability to remain present, and stay focused on the immediate task in front of you came from, but I do know that I had determination, and a willingness to give absolutely everything, whether it be training, in the gym or in a game.
I'm excited to now look to the next generation of aspiring cricketers and try and help them with the same care, dedication and attention that many gave to me on my path to become an England international.
