My Story

Collection: Kate Richardson-Walsh

I had an incredibly fulfilling career in hockey! Looking back it’s almost hard to believe all the things I was able to achieve that were in big part thanks to amazing support from teammates and, of course, the fans every step of the way! Hockey took me around the world, playing the game I adore, and I’m so grateful for each and every experience.

Personal accolades that stand out are reaching a record 375 caps for England and taking on the honour of captaincy for 13 years for both England and Team GB. Nothing, however, will quite match that feeling of taking home gold in Rio – unbeaten, may I add..! – and to be selected as flag bearer at the closing ceremony… I get goosebumps just thinking about it! After four Summer Olympics, four Hockey World Cups and four Commonwealth games I am so proud I ended on such a dramatic high – so many memories that I will cherish greatly.

It would be my pleasure to offer any advice to young hockey players, and instill confidence that they can achieve anything with the right mindset!
