My Story

Collection: Molly Thompson-Smith

My climbing journey began at my 7th birthday party, believe it or not! And it’s been my passion ever since! At 8 I really started to kick on at my local sports centre in London. I found that there was just so much skill, strength and mental toughness needed in the sport that I immediately fell in love with it and all the countless challenges that came with it.

By 16 I was ranked no. 1 in the world and won the European Youth Cup – the hard work began to pay off! The personal achievements so far have been unbelievable, but they’re something I have worked for endlessly and I want to achieve so much more. Jumping into senior competition, I was incredibly proud to come 3rd in the Senior Lead World Cup championship in Slovenia and to finish the year ranked 7th in the world. Fighting back from long-term injury the year after required huge amounts of mental perseverance but now my eyes are set on the future.

My complete focus is on the postponed Tokyo Olympics next year, beyond to Paris in 2024 and to keep rising up the world rankings. I am doing everything in my power to become an Olympian and reap the rewards for the hours of graft I’m putting in. It would make my so happy if I could inspire more young people to take up this amazing sport, to try something new, and offer any advice along the way. Let’s put British climbing on the map!
